POLICE OFFICER
The West Columbia Police Department has an immediate opening
for a police officer. Must be at least 21 years of age and have a high
school diploma or GED equivalent and possess a valid S.C. driver’s license.
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and be able to pass a medical exam to S.C.
Criminal Justice Academy standards as well as a drug test. Additional
requirements are a satisfactory driving record, credit history, and the ability
to pass a background investigation. Must be able to pass a physical
agility test that includes the ability to run, climb, jump, lift, and drag heavy
weight (over 100 lbs.) within standards and times established by the S.C.
Criminal Justice Academy, utilize a firearm, and operate a motor vehicle under
normal and emergency situations. Good communication and computer skills
are essential. The position requires the ability to work rotating shifts in
extreme weather conditions. Base salary is $30,517 annually.
