City of West Columbia to Host Fall Clean-Up Day

West Columbia, SC (October 22, 2019 at 11:10 AM) — The City of West Columbia is hosting a city-wide clean-up day, Saturday, October 26, 2019, from 9 AM – 12 PM, at City Hall, 200 N. 12th Street, West Columbia, SC.

Opportunities to volunteer and interact with your community are as follows:
• Litter Pick-Up in partnership with Keep the Midlands Beautiful
• Community Garden Fall Planting
• West Columbia Police Department/DEA National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
• West Columbia Beautification Foundation Fall Plant Sale and Carraway Park Commemorative Brick Sales

Volunteers are encouraged to come to City Hall, at 200 N. 12th Street, West Columbia, to pick up gloves, safety vests, and trash bags and head to the community space of choice or join in on the planting of the Fall garden. A shred truck will be onsite. The following will be collected in the City Hall parking lot: tires (limited to 4 per household), batteries, electronics, computers, monitors, printers, laptops, microwaves, radios, phones, game systems, DVDs, TVs, and paint cans (limited to 4 per household) (must be filled with kitty litter, sand, or dirt to be accepted), aluminum cans, and scrap metal and appliances.

The West Columbia Community Garden Fall planting will take place behind City Hall. Seeds and plants will be provided. The garden is free and open to the public to plant, tend, and harvest.

The West Columbia Police Department DEA National Prescription Drug Take-Back will be located in four locations within the city to collect unused or expired medications (no syringes or liquids):

9 AM – 1 PM
West Columbia City Hall – 200 N. 12th Street, West Columbia

10 AM – 2 PM
Walgreens – 1537 Charleston Highway, West Columbia
Bi-Lo – 2349 Augusta Road, West Columbia
Medicine Mart – 1300 Sunset Boulevard, West Columbia
