10th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

By November 18, 2014Headline Archive

The City of West Columbia will host our 10th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, December 5, 2014.

The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Christmas carols, Christmas greetings and the lighting of the West Columbia Christmas Tree. The event will take place in front of the West Columbia Municipal Complex at North 12th Street and Jarvis Klapman Boulevard.

A massed choir assembled from West Columbia’s Northside Middle School will perform Christmas classics, as well as our amazing special guest, USC’s Carolina Alive. Radio and television personality Joe Pinner will serve as master of ceremonies. Rev. Shane Phillips will deliver the Christmas Message and Rev. Kenneth Taylor will deliver the Invocation and close us in prayer.

Winners of the contest, “What Christmas Means To Me”, sponsored by elementary schools in West Columbia, will read their winning essays. The winners will come together with Mayor Joe Owens and special guests to magically light the Christmas tree!

At the conclusion of the program, a reception will be held in the New Brookland Room of the West Columbia City Hall. Delicious refreshments will be provided by local West Columbia restaurants. When you attend the reception, please take note of the many organizations who make this reception possible and please frequent them throughout the year.
